***Pet Odors ***

We love our pets and they love us!! They just make us work a little harder sometimes. Pets have accidents and how we handle
them makes all the difference. A+ Carpet Care will assess the situation and the amount of contamination there is and then
determine the best course of action to take. We use the best deodorizers and disinfectants available that are family-
and pet-friendly. What can you do in the meantime?

Before applying any treatment to the area, you want to absorb as much of the urine as you can with a mix of newspaper and paper towels... The more fresh urine you can remove from the carpeting, before it dries, the better your chances are to remove the odor and stain... Put a thick layer of paper towels on the moist area, and cover that with a thick layer of newspaper... If possible, place underneath the padding as well... Stand on top of this paper combination for a minute  to help asbsord the liquid... Repeat until you can not longer abosrb any liquid....
If using a store bought  pet odor/ neutralizer, make sure that it has living enzymes and bacteria in it...Neutralizing the area is more difficult it a cleaning chemical, such as resolve, has previously been used there... For a homemade version, apply a 50/50 mix of white household vinegar
and water, with a spray bottle, on the accident area to help neutralize the offending odors and stop the stain from setting...... Allow this to sit on the area for at least 30 minutes...Then use the newspaper/ paper towel combo to help absorb this mixture...
If you have access to a wet/dry shop vacuum, use this to suck the urine up as well as the rinse mixture..Never use a regular house vacuum on damp or wet carpeting... Use fans to dry the area as quickly as possible when done.... When completely dry, sprinkle baking soda on the area and let this sit over night... This will absord any odors remaining... Then simple vacuum up the baking soda with a regular house vacumm... ...Repeating these steps may be necessary depending on the severity of the problem....Pets will continue to urinate on previous areas so keep them away if possible until completely finished...... When all esle fails simply call us,(703)867-2000, and we will do it all for you with the best techniques and chemicals available....

*** Traffic Patterns ***

Every home with carpet has traffic patterns. Successfully cleaning  depends on a variety of factors. How long has it been since the carpet was last cleaned? Is your household a busy place with lots of traffic? When walking on your carpets, the dirt and sandy grit in the carpeting, is being forced from your weight back and forth against the carpet fibers...This causes the carpet to break down, fray, and discolor... With vacuuming at least once a week, and regular professsional cleanings , this dirt and sandy grit will have a lesser  chance of damaging the carpet and permanently discoloring it... A+ Carpet Care uses the best pre-sprays and cleaners in the industry and spends additional time when taking care of traffic patterns...

There are many different methods of carpet and upholstery cleaning... Major carpet and furniture manufacturers suggest that steam cleaning, also known as hot water extraction, is the best cleaning method in the industry... It has been proven that steam cleaning does a superior job...We leave little residue behind because after we clean the carpets, we rinse them and remove all residues...  For best results, it is recommended your carpet and upholstery be professionally steam cleaned every 6-12 months.
